Thanks so much for those of you who came out to support us at our meeting on Friday! We did an incredible job of assembling the Haiti Care Kits and they are now at Heart to Heart International for shipment to Haiti! We ended up with 9 boxes full of supplies, and about 75-80 kits!
In case you missed the meeting, here highlights of the discussion:
April 1st: Public Health Day at the Capital (8:30am-3:30pm)
- Go to Topeka to visit with your legislatures and learn more about the legal process.

April 5-9th: National Public Health Week!!!
- Keep an eye out for an email invitation to help participate in community outreach presenations to area high schools and community colleges.
- Email kumphso@gmail.com if you want to present to your class about public health and the Kansas Public Health Association. We will provide you with a brief 3 minute script and copies of the KPHA application for students.
- Join MPHSO and the Jahawk health admin student org in a Health Walk from 9:30am-12pm around the KUMC campus. Games, healthy snacks, and free t-shirts provided!
- End the Health walk by walking to the KUMC Annual Street Fair which happens from 12pm-4pm that same afternoon!
- Games, prizes, clowns, and lots of fun will be happening at the fair.
- The entire KUMC and Rosedale Community is invited
- MPHSO will be hosting a Nutrition booth
- Email kumphso@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering at the health walk or the MPHSO booth.
- Join other MPH students in the fight against MS
- Help Ashli Owen (MPH student) fight her battle with this disease by joining her team

April 31st/ May 1st: Public Health Pow Wow
- Volunteer to help out with the Annual Pow Wow held for Native American Public Health at the Johnson County Community College
- Help set up, provide education/clinic assistance, and clean up
